Dear Barton Family,
Elder Barton reporting :) So I can now say I survived the first day at the MTC! WOOT! So basically the check-in process was such a hurry! Felt like the floor under my feet was moving I was just going all over this complex! I am still confused what happened, but Hey I made it :) Oh guess who I ran into while I was running all over... Elder Sandridge! It was his first day too! So we talked and caught up on things so that was cool. AH! I have so little time to write! But I promise I will do better when things start to click. Oh my district! So there are 9 elders including me. 6 of us are going to Houston and the other 3 are going to Calgary Canada. Those 3 elders happen to be my roommates! The lone Texan surrounded by these Canadians. So that means you guessed it, my companion is going to Canada. His name is Elder Farnsworth and he is from Arizona. Pretty cool eh? And the other two Elders are Elder Reese and Elder Whiting. And guess where Elder Whiting is from...TA DA! Mapleton! Turns out we know each other from high school. Cool huh, it's a small world here at the MTC, but I love it here already. Everyone here is so happy and high on the spirit! Why was I so nervous? Anyway, I should go so I can have time to write in my journal! Well I love y'all and write me back soon! I miss y'all already!
My mailing address says my estimated departure date is Feb. 10th so yeah :)
Your Missionary-In-Training,
Elder Barton

My Testimony:
I know that the Atonement is real and that we can all enjoy the cleansing power that it provides. I am grateful for my Savior for performing the Atonement so that I can return to my Father in Heaven. I am grateful for missionary service. I am thankful that missionaries world-wide have the opportunity to bring the fullest blessings of the Atonement to faithful children of God. I know that the Bible and The Book of Mormon are inspired scriptures and are here for our behalf. I owe everything to all of those prophets of old that loved us so much and desired so much for our salvation to write down the words on how we can be saved. We are literally children of a loving Heavenly Father and He wants us to return to Him. I know that Jesus is the Christ. And I love the joy the gospel brings with the knowledge that we can be together with our families for all eternity.
